About
The theme for ETALEE2024 conference is twofold:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Interdisciplinarity
Both will be addressed by a Keynote for each of the two topics independently.
The ETALEE2024 conference aims to foster collaboration among educators, researchers, and education managers. Attendees can expect insightful keynote presentations, engaging discussions, exiciting workshops and networking opportunities. Meet the Keynotes
Assistant Professor, CBS Denmark.
Sine Zambach is an Assistant Professor at Copenhagen Business school (CBS) and holds a PhD in computer science. Her primary research areas includes among others Learning Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence, and Sine is the auther of the books: "AI i Gymnasiet" and "Kvinde kend din kode".
"What will be AI’s role in future education?” Generative artificial intelligence (AI) is a technology that will significantly impact the education system. However, how do we ensure that students achieve the necessary learning, and which competencies will be crucial in the future? Sine Zambach will share insights from her book “AI in Gymnasiet” (AI in high school) and present her research on machine learning and artificial intelligence in primary schools.
She will also discuss her early experiments with AI in teaching at CBS and continuing education.

Mikael is also founder and director for Chalmers ten-year initiative Tracks to develop the education to become more flexible and responsive to changes in the society as well as to new technology, materials, and concepts. Mikael is a member of Chalmers executive committee for education in which he is responsible for internationalization in education. Mikael obtained his PhD in 1996 from Chalmers and was appointed professor in 2012.
"Reforming Education at Chalmers University of Technology"
This presentation explores how the Tracks Initiative at Chalmers redefines education by fostering interdisciplinary skills and dynamic collaboration among students, faculty, and external partners.
In Chalmers Tracks, students are empowered to cultivate interdisciplinary competencies through individualized study paths. Students engage in elective or extra-curricular courses and projects aligned with their research, and/or societal interests, or career goals. These courses, proposed by faculty or external stakeholders, transcend traditional academic boundaries welcoming students from BSc to PhD levels, alumni, and professionals from all disciplines of engineering and related fields. Tracks also aims to swiftly adapt education to incorporate cutting-edge technologies, emerging materials, and innovative concepts. At its core, Tracks includes Fuse Innovation Lab, providing a collaborative environment for creativity and innovation among students, faculty, industry, and public sector. Finally, Tracks' broader impact on Chalmers' educational landscape fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and collaboration is highlighted.

A. Hands-on session
A 90 minutes session following the schedule:
- 10 minutes Introduction (setting the scene)
- 60 minutes Hands-on Activity (incl. summing-up)
- 20 minutes Discussion & Evaluation & Conclusions
Designing a hands-on session
The author submits a proposal for an active hands-on session about how to use active learning in engineering education. The author will facilitate the session which must follow the session structure.
B. Explore session
A 90 minutes session following the schedule (based on 3 presentations per session):
- Introduction (the chair will set the scene for each topic, 5 minutes)
- Selected theme presentations (15 minute per presentations)
- At the end of each presentation, each presenter pose two critical questions based on the presented topic as a starting point for the following reflection and discussion.
- Individual reflection (5 minutes per presentation)
- Discussion
- Closing
Contribute to an Explore session
In the Explore Session we are in a deeper sense seeking answers to the question: Why does Active Learning support efficient learning in Engineering Education?
Each session is chaired by a session chair.
Submission
Design a Hands-on Workshop session
The author submits a proposal for an active Hands-on Workshop sessionwithin the conference topic. The author will facilitate the session which must follow the session schedule.
Contribute to an Explore session
In the Explore session we are seeking deeper answers to the question: Why does Active Learning support efficient learning in Engineering Education? Each session is run and structured by a facilitator.
Participate in an Active Poster session
You contribute by outlining your ideas and examples from AI or in an innovative and interactive Poster session.

If you wish to contribute to one or more of the session types, you must submit an abstract, using the abstract template.
Submit your extended abstract as a PDF via email. Deadline September 1st.
You will receive a confirmation of receipt within 48 hours (on weekdays) stating your contribution number. Please use this number if you wish to update or change your contribution.
